Uttar Pradesh: Tigers with a history
Dudhwa has been known amongst Indian nature watchers for quite some time. But the park has not been known outside these circles. Visit it, and the secret will be yours.
What iO thinks
Dudhwa came to the spotlight in the eighties and the nineties after a renowned conservationist, with the help of the then Prime Minister reintroduced a tiger into the wild. Later some rhinoceroses from Kaziranga and Manas were also introduced into the park. Today, the park has a viable population of both along with other lesser known animals including the leopard, some bison, and the critically endangered Bengal Florican. For the intrepid traveler in the quest of a true jungle experience, Dudhwa is perfect.
