To green hills and unknown beaches – Along the Western Ghats
Soham Sabnis travelled with his friend along the lush coast of Maharashtra. Here is an account of their trip.
It is impossible to find such green anywhere else in the world. Everything felt fresh. Dry earth was alive again. The forests were buzzing and the sea felt great. On a journey of 4 days along the Konkan coast we really discovered how important the rains were to revive the parched land. 180km (approx) over 4 days seemed very relaxing. it wasn’t about how far we went – rather more about the love of pedaling. We covered close to 40-45km each day on a typically coastal terrain full of climbs and downhills. While we cringed at every climb, the joy of gliding downhill was every bit as rewarding.
From Harihareshwar to Anjarle to Murud to Kolthare to Dabhol to Guhagar to Velneshwar to Chiplun was a journey every bit rewarding. At the end of it, the pictures spoke a thousand times of what we felt. Pictures will tell a story… and some secrets too!
